Our suppliers

We’ve scoured the country to find the finest suppliers for all our produce to bring you the best in food and drink from Lancashire, Manchester and beyond.

Here’s some information on some of our fabulous and passionate suppliers. (More to be added soon…)

Boutinot Wines

Cheadle, Cheshire

Founded as a family business in Stockport in 1980, Boutinot has become the leading UK-based distributor of quality wines.  We’ve been working with them since 2015, and they share our determination to discover great wines that really over-deliver.

Real ‘wine people’ who hunt out great winemakers and have a nose for finding great value, they’ve helped us put together an outstanding wine list. They believe all people should be able to drink good wine; that’s our kind of mission statement! Pick up a copy of our seasonal menu to see our food pairing suggestions and a couple of pointers to our favourite wines.

We’re looking forward to Boutinot sharing their knowledge with the team here as we all learn more about the wines we serve (hic). Ask The Clarence team what their favourite wine is next time you’re in!

Brew Tea

Brew Tea are people who just really love tea. In fact they love the whole ritual of tea. But they spotted something wrong with the great British brew; the tea itself wasn’t always great.

So they set about making it better. Now rolling and blending their own tea in Manchester, they learnt the hard way about retail with their own tea shop in Liverpool before switching to entirely wholesale in 2012.

People who love what they do and aren’t scared to get their hands dirty appeal to us greatly. So we sat down with them over a cuppa (naturally) and decided to make them our best brew buddies. You can drink a whole range of their teas in The Clarence.

My Fish

My Fish Company are an independent, family run wholesale fish and seafood supplier based in Fleetwood. We’re one of 250 North West customers for the company who started out with a single customer in 2015. Their fish are mostly UK sourced from UK boats, and they do some great work providing apprenticeships and training people in their sector. Plus they’ve helped us find some great seafood; try the new menu’s Chalk Stream River Trout for an example of their fine fish.

Produce Partners

London / Manchester / Peru

Produce Partners was established to provide growers and producers in the UK and overseas an honest and sustainable supply chain and marketing partner. Started by Nigel Prangley in 1991, Produce Partners has stayed true to the ethos of providing a sustainable and tangible service to all of their partners.

With offices in London and Peru as well as Manchester, PP are probably the biggest of our suppliers, but their commitment to ethical working gives us confidence in the supply chain of our fruit and veg, wherever in the world they come from.

Silver Apples

Silver Apples have been baking brilliant cakes in Manchester since 2009. We’ve tried selling other people’s cakes (they weren’t nearly as good). We’ve tried baking our own (they were brilliant, obviously, but it takes a lot of time and skill to keep making a range of cakes in a busy pub kitchen and it wasn’t sustainable).

And then we found Silver Apples’ cakes in some of the best places we knew around Manchester and tempted them to Bury. Every cake is freshly baked to order and we (of course) sample them thoroughly to make sure they meet our exacting standards. Try a slice with a brew and tell us we’re wrong.
